Baglio
is in an enviable location, close to the old village of Scopello
which dates back to the 17th century. The property enjoys splendid
views of the coastline, stretching the entire length of the Gulf of
Castellammare.
The
hotel complex is just 1.5 km from the beach, and was built at the
foot of a rock on which you can still see the remains of the ancient
watchtower.
The
rooms are very comfortable and spacious, reflecting the colours of
their Mediterranean setting in the walls, the floors and every detail
of the decor and furniture. These aspects were the work of skilled
craftsmen, who helped to create these customised furnishings.
The
location is superb, close to two airports (Palermo and Trapani),
convenient for the main motorways, and at the centre of an area of
great artistic and cultural interest, with the Scopello Tunnery, the
Zingaro Nature Reserve, Castellammare del Golfo, Segesta, Selinunte
and Erice.
The
hotel is close to the local village and a few hundred metres from the
splendid Tunnery, accessible on foot. Surrounded by this stunning
landscape, the Scopello Tunnery overlooks the tall sea stacks covered
with natural vegetation. On the cliffs above, the little
seventeenth-century village remains almost intact, with its square,
fountain and typical "baglio" farmhouse. This is where the
two cultures meet: that of seamanship and traditional tuna fishing,
and that of the farming life of the village, and their union is
reflected in the local culinary traditions. The beauty of the area
has inspired many directors to choose this setting as the location
for major films.
